5-Hit Blitz by Portland's Vespa Wednesday, July 7th , 2049 Brian Vespa exploded for a barrage of base hits at Walker Stadium. The Portland second baseman had a field day in his team's 9-6 triumph over the Phoenix Falcons, finishing 5-for-5. "My hitting philosophy is simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Vespa must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too, leading to one of his best days ever with the bat. Brian Vespa hit a solo-shot off Sam Gerber in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th. So far on the season, Vespa is hitting .311 with 2 home runs, 20 RBIs and 49 runs scored. He has 83 hits and played in 68 games. View Boxscore |
