Big Day for Hilbert: Swats 5 Hits Wednesday, July 27th , 2050 After his 5-hit effort at Walker Stadium was tarnished by Kinsale's 12-9 loss to the Portland Pickles, right fielder Gary Hilbert told BNN beat writers it was "a missed opportunity for a special day." "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "I would have been happy to stop there if it meant we got a win." He didn't get the win, but the 23-year-old had a spectacular 5-for-5 game against the Pickles. "His swing is getting there," said Fisherman skipper Mike Cerullo after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Gary did that to perfection and we wasted it." Gary Hilbert singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
