Avalanche Advance to Round 2
Monday, September 28th , 2048
Philadelphia center fielder Brian Honeycutt couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the Round 1.
"It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Honeycutt moments after his club eliminated the Thousand Oaks Rabbits to advance to the Round 2.
Philadelphia won the final game by a score of 2-1 at Spencer Grounds and took the series 4-2.
"We won the series and that's the main thing," Honeycutt said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted."
For the series, Honeycutt hit .381 with a .435 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, drove in 4 RBI and scored 4 runs.
"He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Thousand Oaks manager Josh Judge.
The Philadelphia Avalanche don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Austin Toros - Kinsale Fisherman series. Austin leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
