Webster goes 4-for-5 in Beavers Win
The exploits of designated hitter Mike Webster, who is a four-time Great Glove Award winner, helped the Portland Beavers defeat the Buffalo Buffalo, 8-1. Webster went 4 for 5 with 4 singles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Portland reliever Chris Hakes picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jimmy Miller suffered the loss. The Buffalo, now 5-10, continue their slow start.

Had Oscar Hernandez not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hernandez hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Beavers.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Portland manager GM admiralballtr8s.
