Powered by Zack Labb, the Los Angeles Kings downed the Detroit Pizzas, 7-5. Labb went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Kings. Brian Collins got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 8 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Jim Davis wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.
Mario Gonzalez, the Los Angeles right fielder, contributed a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning to make the score 7-1, Kings. For the game, Gonzalez was 1-2 with 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI.
"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Los Angeles manager Jim KP.
The win brings the Kings to 6-11, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
