Porters Take Tight Tangle
|
The Dublin Porters overcame a good performance by Detroit right fielder Jose Caravaggio to knock off Detroit, 5-4, at Porters Ballpark. Caravaggio went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Dublin reliever Satoharu Sato picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0. Jose Bautista was tagged with the loss. Dublin sits at 10-8 in the early going.
The Porters were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 32-year old left fielder Manny Barraza landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch changeup from George Liston into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Porters Ballpark denizens into a frenzy and sent the Porters home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"The crowd was raucous," said Barraza.
