Sudbury Edges Portland, 2-1

The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs beat the Portland Beavers, 2-1, at Bulldogs Ballpark. Starting pitcher Brett Richardson was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. In 6.1 innings, Richardson surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Nate Yarbrough recorded the save, his 2nd.
Nick Rojas drove in one run for Sudbury. The 31-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Victor Velasco. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
Rojas told a Sudbury Chronicle reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The setback makes the Beavers 6-12.
