Knights Raise Rally Flag, Beat St. Louis, 7-2
|
A 3-RBI performance from first baseman Ed Putty, who finished 3rd in the AL in batting average with .316 last year, led the Brooklyn Knights to a win over the St. Louis Archies, 7-2. Reliever Nick Sweet picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Mike Ricketts, who finished 5th in the AL in strikeouts with 225 in 2045, took the loss. The loss puts St. Louis at 12-7.
Brooklyn took a 3-2 lead on Corey Buntin's 7th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Buntin hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher Mike Ricketts visibly frustrated.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Putty.
