Red Storm Win Squeaker, 6-5, Over Beavers
|
Lansing beat Portland at Beavers Park, eking out a 6-5 win. The win was due in large part to center fielder Carlos Jimenez. He was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Portland, with the loss, is 10-9.
Jimenez had a game-changing double in the top of the ninth. On a 1-1 fastball from Andy Buhrke, he banged a bases-clearing double to right-center, giving the Red Storm a 6-5 lead. It was the 5th double of the year for Jimenez.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Jimenez.
