Great Effort by Cossacks 1B Melnick Not Enough in 8-4 Loss
|
Though he had a stellar game, William Melnick could not prevent his team, the Kyiv Cossacks, from losing, 8-4, to the St. Louis Archies. Melnick was 3-3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Rourke Ireland earned the win to go to 4-1. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. St. Louis goes to 19-9 with the win.
Pat Hamilton, who finished 2nd in the FL in stolen bases with 50 in 2045, aided the St. Louis cause with a 2-run single in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman was 2-4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Hamilton.
