Abitia Slugs Cossacks to 7-5 Win
|
Behind a fine performance from Noah Abitia, the Kyiv Cossacks knocked off the East Haddam Hyenas, 7-5. Abitia belted 2 home runs, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Cossacks. Zachery DeShields picked up the win, lifting his record to 9-6 on the season. He struck out 8 and walked 1 in 7 innings, while yielding 5 runs. Jimmy Gold earned the save for Kyiv, his 17th of the year.
It could have been a different outcome for Kyiv, had it not been for Kelvin William, the 26-year old first baseman . William contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth inning to put Kyiv up, 4-2.
"I felt good up there," said Abitia. "I saw the ball well."
Today's win puts Kyiv at 46-41, while East Haddam falls to 38-48.
