Beavers Get Clutch Win Versus Los Angeles
The Portland Beavers picked up a win at Beavers Park, dropping the Los Angeles Kings, 4-3. Victor Velasco was the difference-maker. Portland reliever Ray Barber picked up the win, upping his record to 3-4. Robert Martinez was saddled with the loss. Andy Buhrke got the save, the 22nd for him this season.

Had Sergio Garced not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Garced hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Beavers.

"We ground out the win," said Velasco. "That's all that matters."

The Beavers improved their record to 49-39 with the win over Los Angeles.
