Red Storm in Free Fall, Lose 8th Straight
|
The St. Louis Archies beat the Lansing Red Storm, 5-3, at Ballpark of Atlanta. The Archies got a fine performance from designated hitter Marcos Nevarez, who was 2-4 with a home run and a walk. St. Louis reliever Gabriel Fragoso got the win, raising his record to 4-1. Sergio Bahena was tagged with the loss. Lansing's current losing streak is now 8 games.
St. Louis used a timely hit from Nick Olveda to get the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Archies ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said St. Louis manager Terry Schneekloth. "It's usually not just one thing."
