Detroit beat Havana on the strength of starting pitcher Sam Mooney's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Bill Arellano, credited with the save, is now 2 for 3 in save opportunities. By defeating Havana, the second-place Pizzas improved to 50-44.

Jose Caravaggio hit a run-scoring double off Eric McKinney in the bottom of the third, which put the Pizzas in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Caravaggio had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
