The Havana Sugar Kings topped the Detroit Pizzas, 8-3, with center fielder Kevin Mars playing a big role. Mars was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Sugar Kings in the win. Luis Lezama was the winner. He's now 7-5. The loser was fan favorite Brad Riddick. The Sugar Kings improved their record to 56-42 with the win over Detroit.

In the top of the third, Mars had a 3-run home run for Havana. It was his 23rd home run of the season and put the Sugar Kings on top, 3-0.
