Jason Scothorn, who finished 4th in the AL in strikeouts with 235 last year, had a strong outing for the Portland Beavers against the Buffalo Buffalo at The Greenhouse. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 7-2 win. Portland is now 51-48, while Buffalo is 48-52.

Danny Gutierrez was 1-3 with a hit by pitch. He drove in 2 runs for Portland. The slugging first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the third. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Tim Ocampo. It was his 57th RBI of the season.
