Cossacks 4-3 Victors Over Portland
|
Kyiv third baseman Steve Buffington contributed significantly to his team's 4-3 win over the Portland Beavers. Buffington, who finished 4th in the FL in wins above replacement with 4.8 last year, went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Cossacks. Kyiv has a record of 50-52, placing them third in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
With the bases empty and one out in the bottom of the seventh inning, shortstop Alberto Salinas delivered big for the Cossacks. Kyiv was trailing 3-2 when he belted a solo home run.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Portland manager GM admiralballtr8s. "But we decided not to take it."
