Kings Earn Win with Late Rally
The Los Angeles Kings spoiled a good performance by Detroit left fielder Curtis Howland, bumping off Detroit, 8-7, at Sportsman's Park. Howland was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Jim Davis snagged the win in relief. He goes to 4-5 on the season. Jorge Figueroa suffered the loss. With the win over Detroit, the Kings improved to 45-57.

The climactic moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Los Angeles. That's when Nick Olveda, who finished 5th in the AL in hits with 188 in 2043, hit a 2-run home run off Jorge Figueroa to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.

"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Olveda said in his postgame press conference.
