Pizzas Subdue Hanoi, 4-3
|
The Detroit Pizzas picked up a win at Pizzas Ballpark, knocking off the Hanoi Dragon Warriors, 4-3. On the mound for Detroit was left-hander Brad Riddick. He played a key role in the triumph. The winning pitcher was Riddick, now 7-4. He tossed 7 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 8. Detroit is now 68-42, Hanoi 54-55.
Dylan Lucas had a big run-scoring double for the Pizzas in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Detroit leading 3-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Aaron Wierzba, who finished 4th in the AL in wins with 15 last year, and swatted a double to center. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Pizzas ahead, 4-1.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
