A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Lansing Red Storm and Memphis Chicks.

The Lansing Red Storm picked up a win at Ballpark of Atlanta, knocking off the Memphis Chicks, 7-3. Starting pitcher Richard Arocha was a big reason why. In 6.1 innings, Arocha surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs.

The Chicks had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Red Storm going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Gregorio Gonzalez came to the plate. Gonzalez hit a 2-run double on a 2-1 curveball from Memphis hurler Matt Schille. It was Gonzalez's 26th double of the year.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Arocha.

With the win over Memphis, the Red Storm improved to 43-68.
