Cossacks Capture Close Win
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Kyiv Cossacks and the Detroit Pizzas, Adam Dodson, who finished 4th in the FL in innings pitched with 230.0 in 2039, proved to be the difference. The Kyiv right-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Cossacks win. In 8 innings, Dodson surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. The Cossacks saw their record improve to 20-21.
Kyiv used the timely hitting of Rod Garcia to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cossacks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We did just enough to win," Garcia said.
