Chavez Hits 2 home runs in Cossacks Win
|
Kyiv third baseman Lorenzo Chavez was instrumental in helping the Cossacks triumph, 5-1, over the Buffalo Buffalo. Chavez went 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Zachery DeShields, the winner, improved to 5-3. He held Buffalo to 1 run on 3 hits over 9 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. With the victory, the Cossacks upped their record to 21-21.
With Kyiv leading 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Chavez hit a fastball from Glenn DePue for a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Cossacks ahead, 4-1.
"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Chavez told the Kyiv Herald.
