Detroit Absorbs 4-3 Loss to Pittsburgh
|
Pittsburgh beat Detroit at PNC Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to right fielder Luke Spradley. He went 2-3 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Paolo Ferrari, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. Andy Buhrke locked down his 14th save.
Pittsburgh took a 4-3 lead on Danny Gutierrez's 7th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Gutierrez hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Detroit pitcher Jorge Figueroa visibly frustrated.
"Luke is still learning," said Yinzers manager Billy Caceres. "The sky's the limit for him."
With the win, the Yinzers improved to 20-23.
