Portland Beavers starter Paolo Ferrari was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Los Angeles Kings, 5-2. Ferrari, who is tied for 3rd in the AL in complete games with 1, went the distance for Portland. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. With the win, the Beavers have a record of 25-19.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Portland. That's when Sergio Garced hit a 3-run home run off 26-year old left-handed pitcher Robert Martinez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"I'm proud to wear a Portland jersey," Garced told the Portland Citizen. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
