Porters Lose Late to Hyenas
|
The East Haddam Hyenas dealt the Dublin Porters a 4-2 loss at Ballpark of East Haddam. Jerrod Conners, who is tied for 2nd in the FL with a .410 on-base percentage, was the star on offense. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs. East Haddam reliever John Motz was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-1. Greg Sebera took the loss for Dublin. The Hyenas, at 24-21, lead by one game in their division.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Rob Nolan came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dublin pitcher Jesus Mendoza, he hit a 1-0 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting East Haddam on top, 3-2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said East Haddam manager Joe Jankowski.
