Yinzers Lose at Home, 3-2
|
The Havana Sugar Kings, despite a fine performance by Pittsburgh pitcher Jason Scothorn, grabbed a 3-2 win at PNC Park. Scothorn allowed 2 runs over 6.2 innings. Kevin Lowe, who finished 4th in the AL in innings pitched with 234.0 in 2043, picked up the win in relief. Alex Bacio took the loss for Pittsburgh. Andy Buhrke notched his 7th save of the season.
Jason Engels came through with a big-time hit for Havana. The right fielder smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
Havana manager The Baron commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
The third-place Yinzers have lost 4 consecutive games.
