Wayfinders Edge Past Sugar Kings, 7-6
|
Carlos Jimenez made an impact in the 7-6 Waikiki win over Havana. Jimenez, who finished 4th in the FL in extra base hits with 73 in 2045, was 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Waikiki pitcher Geoff Seitz got the win, upping his record to 5-1. John Charles got the loss. The setback makes Havana 64-50.
Up to bat in the bottom of the ninth, 29-year old third baseman Eddie Chavez had a chance to be the hero. Havana pitcher John Charles wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Chavez hit a sacrifice fly. The Wayfinders had themselves a thrilling win.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Chavez. "You've got to get results."
