The Portland Beavers beat the East Haddam Hyenas, 7-1, at Beavers Park. Starting pitcher Chris Duffy was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Duffy, the winner, moves to 6-8. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. The Beavers now have a record of 60-56 with the win over East Haddam.

Luke Spradley drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances for Portland. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off Justin Madsen. It was his 61st walk of the season.
