Aztecs Turn Back Hanoi, 5-3
|
The San Antonio Aztecs knocked off the Hanoi Dragon Warriors, 5-3, in Alliance League action at Estadio Azteca. San Antonio pitcher and Galloway Township, New Jersey, native John Griese had an outstanding performance. Griese, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. San Antonio has run its win streak to 5 straight.
Josh Gingerich, who is tied for 8th in the AL with a .382 on-base percentage, took Hanoi hurler Tony Ramos deep in the bottom of the fourth. His 3-run home run put the Aztecs on top, 3-0. In all, Gingerich had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
"John did a good job of managing their lineup," said San Antonio manager Jim Lumo.
