Sugar Kings Upend Beavers, 3-1
|
Havana got a first-rate effort from pitcher Mark Carlson, who frustrated Portland hitters en route to a 3-1 Sugar Kings triumph at Sugardome II. Carlson, now 6-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. At 59-58, the Sugar Kings claim second place in the Alliance League Boneheads Division.
Jay Wesner, who is tied for 5th in the AL in hits with 134, aided the Havana cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third. For the game, the left fielder was 1 for 3 with a double.
