Behind a solid performance from left fielder John Herndon, the Detroit Pizzas defeated the Arizona Desert Storm, 11-7. Herndon was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Pizzas. Nate Spinks got credit for the win, improving to 6-9. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings. Jose Bautista, credited with the save, is now 11 for 14 in save opportunities.

With Detroit leading 2-1 in the top of the sixth, Herndon hit a fastball from Chris Odeneal for a grand slam home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Pizzas ahead, 6-1.
