Hyenas Come Up Short at Waikiki, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Waikiki Wayfinders and the East Haddam Hyenas, pitcher Joe Johnson was masterful on the mound. The Waikiki left-hander spearheaded his team's 2-1 win. Johnson, now 7-10, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 11, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Waikiki is now 42-77, East Haddam 49-70.
Making an impact for the home team was Luis Torres. In the bottom of the second, the slick-fielding third baseman had a run-scoring ground out. That made the score 2-0, Wayfinders.
"Joe is tough to beat when he's hitting his spots," said Waikiki manager GM Yokotuna.
