St. Louis Archies starter Shuhei Ouchi turned in a sterling performance against the Buffalo Buffalo, leading his team to a slim, 3-2 win. The winner was George Liston in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Sam Gleghorn took the loss. The first-place Archies go to 79-42.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the eighth, with the game tied, Danny Cuello was at the plate when St. Louis scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Archies to go in front, 2-1.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said St. Louis manager Terry Schneekloth. "It's usually not just one thing."
