Hyenas Come Back Late to Clip Blueberry Bulldogs

The East Haddam Hyenas took Sudbury pitcher Josh Deere's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Bulldogs Ballpark. The final score had East Haddam getting past the Blueberry Bulldogs, 3-2. Deere went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 10. The save went to Jason Derrick, his 13th this season. The Hyenas, at 25-23, sit in second place in the Federation League Knuckleheads Division.
In the top of the ninth, Vladsislas Wanzha, who finished 3rd in the FL in RBI with 108 last year, delivered for East Haddam. That's when he belted a solo home run, putting the Hyenas up, 3-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a climactic one.
"We did enough to win," said Wanzha.
