Portland beat Sudbury at Beavers Park, escaping with a 7-6 win. The win in large part was due to designated hitter Mike Webster. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Getting the save was Andy Buhrke, his 13th. Portland is first in the Alliance League Dimwits Division with a record of 31-21.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Danny Gutierrez was at the plate when Portland scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Beavers to go in front, 5-4.

"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Gutierrez told the Portland Citizen.
