Cossacks Rally to Win
San Antonio got a terrific performance from pitcher Art Madsen, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kyiv Cossacks. Kyiv won the Estadio Azteca contest, 6-3. Madsen threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Kyiv reliever Mark Powers got the win, raising his record to 2-0. Tim Ocampo was tagged with the loss. With the win, the Cossacks improved to 25-28.

Kyiv used a timely hit from Rod Garcia to get the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cossacks ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.

"We did a lot of good things tonight," said Kyiv manager Boris Lahutin.
