Pizzas Use Late Rally to Win
Detroit starter Phil Beard pitched well against the Kyiv Cossacks at Kyiv Grounds. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-2. George Liston picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 5-1. Zachery DeShields suffered the loss. The Pizzas are now 68-58, while the Cossacks fall to 73-53.

Detroit used the timely hitting of Chris Adams to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Pizzas on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I was able to fill up the zone," said Beard.
