Yellowstone Dealt 3-2 Defeat
|
The Los Angeles Kings got a stellar effort from pitcher Alex Watkins, helping Los Angeles score a win over the visiting Yellowstone Super Volcano, 3-2. Watkins yielded 1 run over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 10-9. Eric Barone notched his 39th save of the season.
Brett Artis had a big run-scoring double for the Kings in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a fastball from Mike Martinez, who is tied for 6th in the AL with a 10.1 K/9 rate, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Kings ahead, 2-0.
"Alex was dictating to their hitters," said Los Angeles manager Jim KP.
Los Angeles goes to 61-70, Yellowstone to 80-51.
