Dragon Warriors Earn Win with Late Rally
|
Pizzas Ballpark hosted a real pitchers' duel.
The Detroit Pizzas wasted an impressive 7-inning effort from starter Brad Riddick, falling, 2-1, to the Hanoi Dragon Warriors at Pizzas Ballpark. Hanoi leads the Alliance League Boneheads Division by 3 games.
Hanoi used the timely hitting of Dave Gomez to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Dragon Warriors on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.
