East Haddam Absorbs 6-1 Loss to Dublin
|
The first-place Dublin Porters took on the East Haddam Hyenas in front of a spirited crowd.
The Dublin Porters got a stellar effort from pitcher Jason Hendsbee, helping Dublin score a win over the visiting East Haddam Hyenas, 6-1. The winner was Hendsbee. He threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Mark Foglesong. Picking up the save was two-time All-Star Chris Gills.
The Porters got a big at-bat from catcher Jack Rayner. For the game, Rayner was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Dublin a 4-0 lead.
"Jason was the difference maker. He was emotionally under control, had good stuff and makeup," said Dublin manager Jim DG.
Dublin improves to 92-55 with the win. They lead their division by 10½ games.
