Cossacks Get Past Dublin for 3-2 Win
|
Dublin got a decent performance from pitcher Jason Hendsbee, but it wasn't enough to beat the Kyiv Cossacks. Kyiv won the Kyiv Grounds contest, 3-2. Hendsbee threw 7.2 innings allowing 3 runs for the losing team. Evan King got the save, his 31st in 38 chances. With the win over Dublin, the Cossacks improved to 77-80.
Had Mike Bitzer not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Bitzer hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Cossacks.
"We take it day by day here," said Bitzer, "and today was a good one for us."
