The Melbourne Aces have beaten the Vermont Expos and will advance to the Round 2.

Melbourne won the final game by a 5-0 count to take the series 4-2. The Aces triumph was no doubt in large part because of the performance of starting pitcher Kyle Barrett, who was named MVP of the series.

"The only thing that matters is that we're off to the next round and one step closer to a Round 3," he said.

The Melbourne Aces don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Corpus Christi Beach Boys - Cork Claws series. Cork leads the series 3 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
