Aces Win Round 1

While it wasn't a complete mismatch, the Melbourne Aces showed themselves to be the superior team in the Round 1, downing the Cork Claws 4-1.
"Nothing is ever easy in the CBD Rookie League playoffs. Whether you're a favorite or an underdog, you can't take anyone lightly or you'll get burned," said Brian Scully, who was named series MVP after a standout offensive performance.
Melbourne won the final game by a 1-0 count at Aces Ballpark to clinch its spot in the next round.
They will hope to once again rely on Scully there, as he hit .444 with 1 home runs, 3 RBI 7 runs scored during the series.
The Melbourne Aces will play against the Oklahoma City Hooks in the next round. Oklahoma City won their series against the Kalamazoo Kings 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
