Omaha Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game
The Omaha Steaks are heading to the Round 2, having narrowly defeated the Santa Clara Vanguard.

Omaha edged Santa Clara in the series 4-3, with a win at Rockets Ballpark in the clinching game by a 6-4 margin.

John Baccari turned in a strong offensive performance for the Steaks and got series MVP for his efforts.

"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Round 3 win."

It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Baccari continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.

For the series, he hit .345 with a .424 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 3 RBI and scored 5 runs.

The Omaha Steaks will play against the Galway Gales in the next round. Galway won their series against the Amarillo Armadillos 4 games to 2. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
