All playoffs end with joy on one side and despair on the other. Today, the Philadelphia Avalanche are the ones feeling overwhelmed with excitement, and the Rochester River Sharks are the ones thinking about what they could have done differently.

The Avalanche took a 8-3 victory at Avalanche Ballpark today, which gave Philadelphia a 4-2 series win.

With the win, Philadelphia will advance to play in the Round 2.

"We aren't ready to go home yet," said Avalanche right fielder Juan Mercado, who was named series MVP.

The Philadelphia Avalanche don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Kinsale Fisherman - LetterKenny Irish series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
