Pickles Prevail, as Round 1 Goes to the Wire
The joy and relief on the faces of the Portland Pickles players was obvious as they celebrated their Round 1 win over the Kansas City Kings.

"In a series like this, the smallest thing can make the difference in how it turns out," said Portland center fielder William Medina, shortly after the 9-2 win that clinched the series 4-3. "We're happy we did what it takes to get it done."

The team is now off to the Round 2.

Medina won series MVP honors on the strength of his .357 batting average during the series. He also had a .379 on-base percentage and 2 home runs, drove in 6 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Portland Pickles will play against the Ottawa Lynx in the next round. Ottawa won their series against the Flint Coney Dogs 4 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
