The Detroit Pizzas got a strong performance from pitcher Nate Spinks, who stymied the visiting Los Angeles Kings en route to a win, 5-2, in Game 2 of the League Championship. The Kings could never get a bead on the right-handed Spinks, who threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball. The Pizzas now hold a 2-0 in the best-of-7 series.

Spinks, a native of Glendale Heights, Illinois, was dealing all game. He kept Los Angeles hitters off-balance, while giving the Pizzas 7 quality innings. Spinks threw 106 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 9.

"Felt great, felt really good," said Spinks.

Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday at Sportsman's Park in Los Angeles.
