Hanoi Wins League Championship
|
Hanoi first baseman Casey Dawson couldn't hide his reaction when asked about being named MVP of the League Championship.
"It's a nice honor," he said, failing to suppress a wide smile. The trophy was presented to Dawson moments after his club eliminated the Buffalo Buffalo to advance to the World Series.
Hanoi won the final game by a score of 5-4 at The Greenhouse and took the series 4-2.
"We won the series and that's the main thing," Dawson said. "They were a tough team and we didn't want to take anything for granted."
For the series, Dawson hit .318 with a .400 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 8 RBI and scored 5 runs.
"He was tough to stop and that's a big reason they're there and we're here," said a dejected Buffalo manager Jim Punk42ae.
The Hanoi Dragon Warriors will play against the Dublin Porters in the next round. Dublin won their series against the Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs 4 games to 1. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.
