Game 5 was big. So was Brad Riddick.

In leading Detroit to a crucial 6-3 victory over the St. Louis Archies at Pizzas Ballpark, the Detroit starter rose to the occasion, tossing 6 good innings. Riddick threw 6.0 innings of 5-hit ball as the Pizzas defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 World Series.

With two out in the bottom of the seventh, Bob Lucas barreled up a cutter from Spencer Hay. The result was a grand slam home run, putting the Pizzas in front, 6-1.

"Brad doing his thing just hyped us all up," said Detroit manager Evan Compton.

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Team2 Ballpark in San Diego.
