Buffalo Turn Back Pizzas, 2-1

The Buffalo Buffalo and Detroit Pizzas played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.
Glenn DePue, who is tied for 9th in the AL in saves with 5, never let the Pizzas get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his circle change, to pitch the Buffalo to a win, 2-1. The loss makes Detroit 40-40.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Buffalo had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when left fielder Omar Gallegos hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Phil Beard and made the score 2-0, Buffalo. Gallegos went 3 for 4 with 3 singles.
"Tough loss," said Detroit manager Evan Compton. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
